Амфест: фестиваль американского кино

About AMFEST

Amfest presents a perfect collection of newest American films. They are almost anti-Hollywood – no cliches but only fresh ideas. Independent American directors and writers made something new of old good genres. The program of this year includes comic detective story Cold Weather about Sherlock Holmes' young fans from Porland by Aaron Katz, family comedy Go Get Some Rosemary made by Safdi brothers in John Cassavetes' veine, poetic fantasy Another Earth by Mike Cahill, an unusual and bold mix of cinema vérité, Lynch’s absurdity and ancient tragedy – Aardvark by Kitao Sakurai. Also see new works from famous authors of different generations – Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris, Gus Van Sant’s Restless, Kevin Smith’s Red State, Nicolas Winding Refn’s Hollywood debut Drive which won him Best Director Award at the last Cannes Film Festival. Among other films - Kelly Reichardt’s neo western Meek's Cutoff, the last Sundance sensation Bellflower by novice director Evan Glodell, another first work – a romantic love story Jess + Moss by Clay Jeter and a special collections of shorts from SXSW.

Ben and Joshua Safdi and Mike Cahill will present their works themselves and the program of short films from SXSW will be presented by the SXSW programmer Claudette Godfrey.
